With the support of the Neustart Kultur program of the Deutscher Künstlerbund, we have been undertaking further practical research related to our work, Woven All of Dream and Error (which has had the working title of Other Trains). Specifically, most recently, we have been gathering video material related to the work in Brandenburg and Berlin.
The first part of this most recent round of work involved retracing the route of the Angermünde–Bad Freienwalde line in Brandenburg (which was active from 1877 to 1997), and the second part was with the Berlin M-Bahn route (active in 1991, and which we previously had an update about last year).
In both locations, we intended to shoot video excerpts of the process of carrying machine-learning-generated audio of nonexistent “trains” along the routes of these abandoned railway lines.
The Brandenburg work involved hacking through plenty of undergrowth along the way.
The second round of the work, back in the city, was shot along the route of the M-Bahn, from Potsdamer Platz to Gleisdreieck.
There will be more to come with this work, including post-production work on the video material, but for now, here are a couple of video stills from the day.
